SRINI GANDRA - The Artist Behind Speed Atelier, The Art of Speed
For Srini Gandra, the automobile has always been more than a machine. It is a study of form, movement and emotion, the line of a body, the tension of a surface, the relationship between light and form
With a background in high-end automotive design, including Bentley Motors, Srini brings a designer’s eye and a collector’s heart to every artwork. His inspiration comes from the machines that have defined eras, silhouettes that became icons, racing cars that pushed engineering beyond convention and details that continue to captivate long after the engines have fallen silent.
But the intention is never simply to reproduce. It is to capture their essence. The attitude. The movement. The drama. The feeling.
Each artwork begins with extensive research before the car is stripped to its purest form, a movement captured in stillness. Advanced digital design technologies bring the sculpture into 3D, refining every proportion and surface before 3D printing gives the idea its first physical form as a prototype. From there, technology gives way to the hand. Srini explores materials from epoxy resin to wood and eco-resin, seeking the right balance of character, craftsmanship and a more considered approach to making. Every surface is hand-sanded, shaped and refined, allowing light to travel across the sculpture from every angle. Automotive paint completes the form, with the colour chosen by the collector.
Each artwork is created in very limited numbers —to preserve the significance of the machines that inspired them.
